ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH
The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Michael and All- Angels' Church, Kelburn, was held on. Thursday, the Rev. A. W. Payne, M.A. (vicar), presiding. Tho report of the churohwardens and vestry showed that during the past.year the foundation stone of the new church building was laid by the Bishop, and that the. extra work in connection with the foundations is now nearly completed. The church building fund has been increased by about .£IOSO during tho year. Of this item over _ .£l9O was raised by the work of the Ladies' Guild, \fhile the children's fund for the font and baptistry has increased by over £10. There have been increased attendances at tho services, especially on Sunday evenings, The vicar reappointed Mr. G. N. Sturtevant as his warden, and Mr. H. E. Evans was re-elected parishioners' churchwarden. The following vestry was elected: Messrs. H. M. Bannister, H. S. Barns, W. Bray, F. J. Carter, T. Coinpton, W. Hand-Newton, T. R Lawson, 11. Pankhurst, R. H. Webb, and F. E. Wright. Mr. G. W. Janisch was re-elected auditor. . Mr. H. E. Evan3 was rc-elected synodsman for the ensuing three yeara Stress was laid npon tlie absolute ■necessity of providing a vicarage, in. view of the probability of an early termination of the arrangement. whereby the vicar has been, allowed'by the governors of the Hadfield College to occupy the hostel. A .fund for a vicarage has been started during the lost few days, and it is hoped that immediate support will be forthcoming.
