HUTT VALLEY GAS DISPUTE
PETONEfS. PROPOSAL REJECTED,
The matter of the gas disnute between Lower Hutt and Petone came ut> at last night's meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council, when a letter was receiv-. ed-from the town clerk, Petone, stating that that council submitted No. 2 proposal of the Board of ■ {.Trade (a now agreement) for a settlement as a counter proposal, but that it was prepared to consider Lower Hutfs suggestion on tho basis of the present day value of the gasworks, and was prepared to meet the council in conference if it desired to discuss these proposals on the lines indicated. ' i
It was decided that the Mayor interview the Mayor of Petone to see whether that council would consider the Board of Trade's proposal for joint control, and if so to arrange n conference, as the Lower Hutt Council would not consider any counter proposals.
