'In his manifesto published in this issue, Mr. SievwrigHt pleads for the preservation of the present ,or- . ganisation with a progressive policy having definite aims; the establiehmeht of a returned soldiers'- institute. ,to serve as a centre of all R.S.A. activities; the election of officers to bo by postal ballot; the immediate withholding of.iGOOper annum from the Wellington District Committee, such amount, to bo -used for ■ ■ Wellington -returned soldiers'\ activities;.and the .immediate increase of .'war pensions to bring them into line with the increased cost of living. Mt. W. Perry, who has been nominX ated for tho chairmanship of the Wellington Bctiirned Soldiers' Association, which office is to be filled at the annual meeting.of the association on April 29, publishes his platform in this issue. . Jlr. Perry sets out to restore harmonv amongst returned soldiers, in Wellington, and ensure n strong (ixcciitivo so that a real forward poliey . may be inaugurated and carried out. He also proposes the provision of a permanent club worthy of the association. Mr. Perry proppsiv the association's Land and Property Bureau so as to' ensure the maximum service to members, .to.do anything possible to i increase the mana and prestige of tho parent body, nnd-to urge the remodelling of the' Now Zealand constitution so as to prevent the expenditure of largo sums on. expensive district organisation schemes. Other .'plants in tho platform are to support the New Zealand Association in its .demands.'for: (i) An increase in . the scale of pensions commensurate with the rise in the.cost of living; (ii) a speeding iyi in the 'setof the returned soldier on the land; _ (iii) moro comprehensive care of the. disabled; and in its work generally to ensure that no returned soldier shall suffer now or, in the future through his participation in the great war.
