Mr. Massey stated to-day that the difficulty in dealing with the matter-.was due to the fact that the Indians to whose arrival exception is being taken are British subjects. • The matter has been referred to the Crown law Office, in order that it may be ascertained whether there is sufficient power at present vested in the Government to check this immigration. If the pSwers now existing prove insufficient then Parliament will be iisked to deal with the mntter as-early, as possible in the session, which commences in June.
