THREE ANNUAL/MEETINGS. The annual meetings of the Wellington Ladies' Christian Society, tho Levin Memorial Home, '.Mid the Alexandra Eomo . were held in St. John's Schoolroom yes : terday afternoon. Mr. Allen presided. The Teport of the W.L.C.A. stated that Dorms work had_decreased and less material consequently liad been bought. It was pointed out that if it were only realised how much help was needed bv many mothers v,-ith largo families and small means, more helpers could not fail to oomo to tho rescue. The Boot Club had a largo membership, and was very acceptable to mothers with largo families. The Belmont Convalescent Homo 1 was proving of grea/i benefit to sickly children living in crowded areas of tho city. Many of "the children had Itad on Hits from tho Dorcas to enable them to stay at tho home. Thcro were received during the year 150 new garments, 405 sec-second-hand, also clothing from; 1 tho TwoGarment Society. Material had beon bought to the. amount .of 211 yards, and garments distributed numbering in all (second-hand and new) 812. The report iaiid balance-sheet wore adopted. The incoming committee is- ns follows:—Vice-presidents, Mrs. Glasson and Mrs. A. Anderson; committee, Mesdames Anderson, Batham, J. Blundoll. van Dadelszen, Wilson, Muir, Luras, and Jeffrey. LEVIN MEMORIAL HOME. Following is tho report of the levin Home:— : "Tho work carried on this year has ibeen most satisfactory, and tho health of the children lias been good. The committee greatly appreciates tho.work done by thn matron. Miss Joily. Miss Macdonald gives able- assistance in carrying on tho work. Miss Gebhardt has joined the staff as- second assistant. Tho committee thanks the following for donations :-Oppenheimcr Co., £3:1-, ■ T. G. M'Carthy Trust. ,£l3 fis.' Bd.; Two-Gnr-ment Society, 88 gametits; .Mrs. Elder, Waikanne,. fruit.and clothing; Mrs. Hamerton, Kelburn, clothing; Mrs. W. 11. Philp, for services rendered to the home; Mr. Nash, New Plymouth, dress material; Hawke'a .Bay Fisheries and Hurcombo and Son, ft fish-rtmrier weekly; the pupils of Fitsherbert'Terrace School, for clothing for one child. . The annual gift tea held in September was most successful, donations amounting to ,£SO and snbscriptins ,£2O. wero received, also a piano and quite a number of parcels of groceries and material. A Ladies' Auxiliary, which has been formed to help tho matron with tho sewing, meets at tho homo on tho fourth Tuesday of every month; moro helpers are needed for this very deserving-work. The committee wishes to bring 1 before friends the need for more sulseribers. The cost of upkeep of the home is much more than in former years. It is with deep regret tho death ia recorded of two most, generous subscribers, the late Mr. mid Mrs. John Dunrain. They have always taken a very kindly interest in the Levin Home. The committee desires to tender its grateful appreciation to Dr. Harold Kemp and Mr. Arthur Hoby for professional I services glvn to tho children, also to tho headiwter and teaching staff of tho Britomart Sheet School." The ret'rirg' members of the commit tee olip-iblo for ii-election wero Miss Speed,. Mrs. West, Miss Young, and Miss Barry. All were re-elected. ALEXANDRA HOME. The. annual -'oport states that tho number of married women who come to the home for coxftnoment is steadily increasing. Also thw"* i» an increase. in tho number of cases attended by tho nurses outsido the homo. Wojnen who', cannot leave their homes find -the visits' very useful. The home is getting much- too snisU for the amount of work carried on in it. Tho nri'sery work of tho home is not well known. There nro often as many as 30 children there. There re only one other institution taking in. very young children—the Homo of Compassion—and the committee'feels that_ if tliero wee moro room made by relipving tho old home.of tho real hospital-work a great amount of good could bo done, Tho resignation of Miss Hudson was accepted with much regret, and Mrs. Corrigan appointed in her place. Tho coriimittee was very pleased to welcome Mrs. Corkhill back from war work in England. Thanks are accorded Dr. Perkins, the Hospital doctors, Miss Inglis, of St, Helens, Messrs. Izard and Weston for legal advice. Messrs. Nathan for donation of gjaxo, and Two-Garment Society, clergymen who conduct services, and .ladies of the W.C.T.U. (Newtown), and others.
