COMPETITIONS SOCIETY
A meeting of-the executive council of the Wellington ■ Competitions Society was , held last evening, Mr; L. ft. Partridge presiding. It wan decided that to avoid clashing with the various examinations held during November, the competitions should be held from September 21 to October 9, being a period of seventeen days. The searetary stated that the Opera House had been, booked for the whole season, and arrangements for the issue of the Byllabus were now in hand. Tho selection domntittee (reported ilhat the final selection of test items in elocution and music would be complete in a few days, Borne difficulty being experienced in obtaining adequate supplies of test music. A number of applications were teceived for tho position of adjudicator in both sections. Finally Mr. S. Gordon Lavera (Sydney) was appointed judge in the music sectian, and Mr. A. Stanley Warwick (Sydney), judge <in' the elocution 'eotion. Both these gentlemen hold tho highest credentials, and are strangers to New Zealand. The organising committed reported that a laTge number of offer* of special prizeß were- coming, to hand, and it was anticipated that tho special prize list would bxosed that of last vear.
