WESTLAND GREAT WAR MEMORIAL
■ Sir—l venture to ask space m your readinr columns for the purpose of draving tho attention of your cx-WcstUua readers to tho movement to rear a memorial to the Westland soldiers end nurses who made tho supreme sacrifice in tho Groat War. It has been decided to erect a cenotaph on a suitable site in Cass Square, Hokitika, at a cost of not less than £1500. A winged figure of Victory will surmount the dome of the cenotaph, and under tho dome will be the Stone of Remembrance whereon tho nanus of the fallen will be,caryed. Tho sum required for the memorial is to be. raised by voluntary contributions withm from April 15 to April &, and on the latter date (Anzac Day) the foundation stone will ba laid. Donations from ex-Westlanders will be received with thanks, fovj warded to the Mayor or Twn Clerk of Hokitika. The name of Wcetland-bora wldiers who enlisted away and served in any other units, and who fell, should be forwarded to the undersigned for rewrd on the Stone of Rcuiembrance.-I ""' et °-' D. J.
