The shortage of .trucks and the lack'of shipping have been factors in reducing the operations. Oats have firmed during the past few days, and Miles have been-effected of Abrade Garfons at is. Id. at country stations. Tliere is a good deal of business in small qunn tities, and shipping facilities only re> quiro to improve to stimulate business with the North Island. Merchants , there have made commitments', that will soon, require extensive filling. Thero are only a few deals in Algerians to report, ss. Gd. -at country .'stations representing the limit of prices. Ohaff is still in request- at up to £7 a ton at country stations. Cocksfoot and clover have based. somewhat, Ryegrass also shows an easing tendency. Potatoes have declined in value, and ,£4 10s. to .£■4 12s. Gd. at country stations now represents the maximum ■ of merchants' offers. However, there is not much activity in the market, merchants showing little disposition to buy. except in email quantities. The general impression is that there will' be a plentiful supply, but reports from the south suggest that this will not be the caso there. The position in regard to onions is unchanged. Merchants are .offering £7 10s., which is' ,£1 below the Onion Growers' Association's figure, and in the meantime business is restricted to small lines.
