BRUTAL ASSAULT IN NORWAY STREET
TWO WOMEN SERIOUSLY INJURED
• At nn'airly liour yesterdav Mrs. Carnline Cooper 'and her sister, Miss Annie U Skjoth,. were brutally assaulted by ■« man. The two women r»si<ied in a wmise m Norway Street (off Aro Street), ant early in the morning Miss Skjoth heard screams coming fi'.pm her sister's room. She immediately rushed in to make investigations. She saw a roan belabouring her sister—who was in bi>d-;witli what looked liked, a .heavy st'clt or a .bar of iron. As soon as Miss Skiith entered the'room sh° was attacked."bv the intruder, who felled her with "a blow on tliSwTead, rendHng her temporarily unconscious. W r hen she recovered, her sister was still seremn'iis, and blows were lipinjj struck. fT!)*. man then made off. and Mj«s Skjoth managed to arouse the neighbours. who immediate!" communicated w'th the police and sent for a doctor. The latter ordered the immediate removal of t : hc victims to the hospital, their injuries being" eevero. Tlie Hospital authorities stated lah> lost night that Mrs. Cooper and Miss Skioth were both suffering from scalp wounds. Mrs. Gooper also had an arm injured.
