At the show sales a yearling Shorthorn bull, the second prize-taker, was eold'for 1000 guineas, and a heifer for GOO guineas. Three shorthorn bulls sold on behalf ,of Dulziell Brothers, of New Zealand, averaged 103 guineas.—Press Assn. CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY A meeting of the council of (he Clydesdale Horse Society of the .Dominion of New Zealand was held at Ashburton last week, Mr, J. D. Wyllio (Sefton) presidTho British Clydesdale Horse Society notified'tho grant of four gold medals per annum, to.be awarded to mares nnd stallions registered in the Clydesdale Stud Book. Tho society also Intimated that the medal competitions at Ashburton A. nnd P. not having been in'-ordei, it could not see its • wdy to stand'to i tho grant. A deputation from the Ashburton A. and P. Association waited upon tho council, and discussed the position regarding these medals. Messrs. G. Q. Thomson and J. A. Johnstono offered to bear tho cost of supplying silver medals struck with the society's die. Mr. Christian, 'on behalf of tho deputation, expressed their thanks for this solution of the difficulty, which he believed would bo gratefully received by tho Ashburton A. and P. Association. Messrs. Thomson and Johnstone were thanked for their generous offer. On folic notice of motion by Mr. Quenti n Donald, ' moved in his absenoe by Mr. J. W. Harding, it was decided tliat in competitions at A. and P. shows for the society's medals the regulation conlining competition to "local members'' be struck out. Messrs. P. Martin, P. C. Ward, and C. Harrison were elected members. / Tli6 annual meeting is to be held at Dunedin during the Winter Show, which eventuates in tho first week of June..
