PALMERSTON north TRAGEDY
INQUEST OPENED. By Telegraph—Presß Association. (Palmorston .North, .March 25. The -.Coroner's inquiry -Was ..opened today concerning the circumstances under which Mary Ethcline Webby, a married 'Woman, met her death,, the body having boon found with the throat cut, .on Thursday morning last in an unformed (Street between Fitzroy and ' Ruahino .Streets, .Medical evidence as to the -wound -was -given. The. abdominal organs were nuite healthy. There was 110 .•.o.ther marks on -tho ;body. 'Considerable force must hiive been used to effect tha .injury. Witness thought impossible that the wound coUld have been self-inflicted, but the absence of nny instrument would precludo this theory.' Considerable evi■flenco was given by witnesses who paw deceased -during the -day. , •Further evidence was riven by Percy Daniel Wills as to seeing deceased in tlia •company of a man near to where the ''bojly was;i'ound on the evening preceding ithe tragedy. N.ext morning .lie found deceased's body .ami informed the police. At this stage the inquest was adjourned to Tuesday next, •
