Br. E. Litchfield has resigned his position ns .physician on the 'honorary staff of the Wellington Hospital. The resignation was accepted .with regret at yesterday's meeting of the Hospital Board. Griffiths, forpufly commandant at the headquarters of the Australian Imperial Forces, has been appointed. administrator of the Pacific possessions controlled by the Commonwealth in succession to Brigadier-General G. J. Johnston, who has resigned. The salar-y attaching to-the position is £1300 a yeah, inclusive of allowances. Brigadier-General Griffiths will loave Sydney on April 3 for Rabaul,

The death took place at Christchurch on Tuesday of the Rov. J. 1,, Mortimer, after several months' illness. The deceased was borii in Christchurch, and. educate in England, at Rossall school, and afterwards at Oxford, .ivliero lie graduated in 1902. Ho held ouracies in England at Wallsond, Sleet and Upton ■Park (London), and to Christchurch in 1011 ; as .assistant curatc to the Rev. Canon Burton, of St. Michael's.
