RETURNED SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED
The welcomo social tendered by the residents of Lower Hutt last night at the local Drill Hall to returned soldiers of the borough was a great success. Over 300 invitations were issued -to ox-soldiers, and x with their friends over 1000 complimentary tickets had been issued by. the committee. Added to this a great many tickets were sola, with the result that tho hall was 'crowded. Tho Mayor (Mr. E. P. Rishworthj presided and welcomed the guests, and Dr. Mason returned thnnks on behalf of tho soldiers. The evening was spent in dancing interspersed with musical and elocutionary items, the following contributing: Misses M. Burt, 'Parsons, M. Joyce, M. Knight, Chambers, find Messrs, Orr, Saunders, E. J. Hill, R. Orr, and E. Rishivorth. The floor was in quite good order foi dancing, while the hall was very taste- ' fully decorated with bunting and flowers.
