The sale of the well-known Kopauo Estate near Palmerston North, held nt t.io • Feilding Dr.ll Hall to-day attracted anattendance of over GOO, and there van sume very keen bidding. The result wan that the 920 acres realised a total of newly .£IIO,OOO, with an average- of oyer .£ll6 10s. per acre, every section changing hands. , . People were present from all parts ot the- North Island, and a few from, tho South, but tho bulk of the sections, which ranged from 24 to 47 acres, were taken bv local buvers. All tho sections fell to 'North Islanders. Mr.' Norman Gorton, of Fcilding, acted as auctioneer, and there can be little doubt that ho conducted the highest priced land sale ever held in the Dominion. The pricerealised bv this property is rigmficant, as tho Cm-eminent less than two years a»o bought a portion of flic Kopane Instate for .E6B ner acre, on which they have settled about a do/en returned spidicrs, who are doing well. The heavier portions of the land close to the protia fever made from .£l3O t0'.£177 good land suitable for dairying from .Cl2O to Xl»i. and lighter land from .€57 to .t'?o.
