CRICKET AFFAIRS

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS,

The Management Committee of the Cricket Association met last evening. Mr. C. G. Wilson presided.

Messrs. R., Murphy and J. Lynnm, who were anoointed n sub-committee to bring forward proposals for improving junior nnd third class cricket, presented .their renort. which was referred to the Rules Revision Committee. _ . Correspondence received from the New Zealand Cricket Council relative to suggested alterations in the present system nf Plunket Shield matches was discussed at the meeting. It was proposed that the following new rule be adopted:—The Plunket Shield shall he held by the team winnintr thn most number of matches in ft competition for the. same. In the event of an eaual number of wins, the competition shall be decided on the rules covernine the Sheffield Shield competition. The competition shall be played on the .jallowine Linps: —fa)" It shall bo confined to the Auckland. Wellington, Canterbury. and OtaßO Associations, (b) Each team shall play every other team each season, fc) The competition shall be inaugurated by all competing excepting Ofaco travelling south during the 192A--21 reason. In the following season all competing teams executing Auckland shall travel north. The council also siweested that the rules be amended so as to nrovide' for the following.division of the net takingsßO per cent, to be retained bv the local association, 30 per cent, bv the visiting association, and 10 nor cent, bv the New Zealand Cricket Council. The chairman said lie was in favour of tho proposals, but he wanted to see Plunket. matches start at 11 a.m., break for lunch at. p.m., resume at 2.30 p.m., and play to 6 p.m., thus doing' awav with tho afternoon tea adjournment.' He moved in that direction, the motion beinc carried. With this addition tho proposals were approved bv the meeting.
