BAKERS' COSTS
Sir, —Surely bates' cost? ceroid easily be ascertained 'from our State bakery at Marten Junction, with additions for rent, delivery, or selling'expenses. This would obviate the necessity of bread pricw being held in abeyance, besides being an 'independent- source of information. Incidentally, I have not seen any figures relating to this Government venture. Possibly they will appear in the next Railway Statement. Some critics are inclined to doubt the Government'" ability to manufacture cheaper than they can purchase, but 1 have no doubt ttiat the cost of manuiacFure will not in any wav exceed that of a private trader. Why the Premier does not use the Government's figures is a source of sDeenlatrion. —I am, etc.. JOURNEYMAN BAKER.
