BURGLARS AT WORK
IRONMONGER'S SHOP ENTERED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, March 16. I The nremises of E. Reece and Son, ironmongers, were burglariously entered last niaht. The burglars, gained access to the premises through a skylight after reaching the. roof by means of a ladder at. the back of the shop. Several articles were stolen. , ' ATTEMPT TO BLOW HP A SAFE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hawera, March IC. The "Star's" Normanby correspondent reports that an attempt was made to blow up the safe at the railway station, which is also the Post Office. The stationmastcr says he discovered that apparently an explosivo had been put into the lode, to deaden the sound a bag containing bacon had been used. The safe, however, did not yield. At Hawcra the shop of Purser Bros., tobacconists, was entered. The back window was broken. So far as is known no 6tock was taken. The till contained only a number' of coppera.
