BOWLS
WELLINGTON CENTRE . : ] 'I; DECISIONS ON VARIOUS * ' POINTS > ; At a meeting of tbo AVellington Bowling Centre, ill-. E. J. Hill raised tho. <luestion of the grounds on which tho Gisborno KoseUowi was allotted in tlie centre's annual tournament. In the first place, • that perpetual trophy was awarded to tho rink scoring lu e highest aggregate points in the tuurnament, and oil Mr. Hill's motion it was agreed to award tho trophy to the rink which had tho lowest aggregate points scored against it. These points ho had found' had been calculated on the added totals, which was not his intention, llis intention was that the trophy should lie awarded to tho rink showing the lowest margin of points scored against it. Assuming that a rink lu<t all nine games (three days' play) by one point each, that would bo a low margin. Mis object was to give credit to a good rink playing with hard luck. He contended that a rink losing all nine games by a point each might, with some show of justice, claim as good a record as a winning rink with one, or perhaps, two, losses in the tournament. Tho point, which was conceded; to be an interesting one, was deferred for decision to tho annual meeting of tho centre. Application was made (and granted) that the green tester should lie located at tho Wellington Club's gree'a instead of at the Newtown Club. With regard to the Senior Pennants, it was decided that Wellington and Ivelburn should meet on Saturday next to decide the supremacy in A Section, and that the winners should meet Newtown (winners of 13 Section) on Saturday week to decide the final. Complaint was made by delegates that their members were not notified e.arly enough when they had io play on a Wednesday or Saturday afternoon for a, , centre trophy, micli as \the Edwin Feathers and Hill Pins. Sometimes clubsonly received one or two days' notice, which was not long enou;li for them to arrange the rinks, as probtitly by that ■time members had committed themselves to play in other games. It was decided' that the challenging club should be notified of its turn to play for such trophies, on the - Monday or the Thursday (as the case may be) after th? previous game. MANAWATU .
