Tho. Stead-owned Cnshmere was at a\ very short price in the Ma den Scurvy, but tho good thing nearly came undone, for he was unlucky at the start, and it was only in the last few strides that ha got up and defeated Fife and Drum, who led all tho way. Chant Eoyal was also prominent, but he failed to Bee out the distance. Piro Piro finished well in third place, and should not'be long in getting on the winning list. Admiral Codrington was the best-hacked of the 14 runners in tho Hack Welter, while there was a 6trong following for Guanaco and Makepeace. The two latter wcro in front for a furlong, when tho favourite rushed into the lead, and from this P9int he was not again headed, no won nicely from Miss Maid, who finished well, and beat Makepeace for second place.
