The outsider Dinkum Digger led for the last two furlongs in the Hopeful Stakes, and won .well, but the- timo was slow owing to the head wind. David, who was fourth early in tho race; got up in the last few yards and just won tho Carmichael Stakes. Ho was well ridden by J. Mnhoney, who won the' Newmarket-Cup double. Red Dome nnd Macadam had a great race in the 'Northcote Handicap, but' Cape Sky, vigorously ridden by R. Lowis for the last three furlongs, gained a narrow victory from Two Blues, who finished well., Menin. who was Inst early in tho race, finished a (rood third. Gotswold led all the way in tho Steeplechase. Artilleryman led for the last seven furlongs in the King's Plate, doing the last six furlongs in lmin. 16see. His 6tako winnings now total .£17,284. J.'
