ARMENIAN MASSACRES

ANXIOUS CONSIDERATION BY ALLIED CONFERENCE.

London, March 4. In the House of Commons, replying to Sir Donald Mac Lean with regard to the Armenian massacres, Mr. Lloyd George stated that the matter was being discussed bv the Allies nml between the Government! and the. British representative at Constantinople. A statement at present was inadvisable.

Mr. 'Asquith urged that full information should he Riven as far as possible in "order to Telieve the grave general anxiefcv. *

Mr. Llovd George replied that the anxietv was fully shared by the Government and all tho representatives of the Allies. Since they received the very serious news of the massacres, the Allied Conference had very anxiously considered the mattor, and had come to a deci- ' sion which hud been communicated to tho Allied representatives at. Constantinople. It, was inadvisable at present to publish the character of the decision, which depended on the advice received; but. the Government was fully alive to the gravity of the position and the need for takine very strong action to protcet minorities ns far as possible.—Aus.-jN.u.
