PALMERSTON RESIDENT MISSING
(From Our Special Correspondent.) Palmerslon North, March 5. Considerable anxiety is felt, in Palmers, ton North over tho disappearance - of. a well-known resident, Mr. P, A. Gillies, who has not been seen since February 25. Mr. Gillies was for several years farming in tho Otaki district. He afterwards fold out, and for sodip tinio past has been living with his wife and two children in Massey Street, Palmerston North. He went to stay for a few weeks with Mr. Hume, at Tokomaru, and on tlia date mentioned he, with Jlr. Hume, roo-s tored into Palmerston North, arriving about 10 a.m. When they parted it was arranged that Mr. Gillies should meet Mr. Hume at 4 p.m., but from that tims nothing whatever lias been hoard of him. Somo time ago Mr. Gillies had a leg broken, and as it did not set properly it luid to 'be broken again and reset, and this caused him a good deal of pain. Search parties have been out for ths past week, and now the police are engaged in dragging the Manawatu Kiver in case Jlr. Gillies has been drowned. He was about 4S years of age, with dark hair and moustache, and wore a pepper-nn<l-salt suit. Ho "walked with n slight limp. • • ■
