ATHENIC ARRIVES
DEATH ON THE VOYAGE. The Shaw-Savill liner Athcnic arrived yesterday from London, bringing troops and civilian passengers. An excellent trip was experienced throughout, and all passengers received an hospitable welcome at Panama. On March 2 the infant child of Alexander Montgomery Trips died in the ship's .hospital of bronchial pneumonia, and was buried at sea. When the vessel was at Balboa (Panama) Sergeant T. J. Jaspers was sent ashore to the hospital, suffering from appendicitis. The Patriotic Society's Band welcomed the vessel on- arrival at tho Queen's Wharf, and the Mayoress (Mrs. J. P. Luke), with the assistance of a committee of ladies, distributed cigarettes and fruit to tho troops. There was a large muster of members of the Voluntary Motor Corps, .and all Wellington troops, were speedily transported to their respective destinations.
