Netherton road about a mile find a half beyond Paeroa. The Puko Bridge, spanning tho Wairoa River, was open to allow tho passage of .a steamer. The bridw-opener my the car approaching and. called out, but AValkor was unable to pull, tho motor-car up. It plunged into the .opening. and was precipitated into the water, below. Stockley and Walker woro both drowned, but Cogan reached the chore exhausted.
