FEBRUARY'S WEATHER
TEMPERATURE AND RAINFALL ABOVE AVERAGE.
February was a month of abnormal weather. According to the Meteorological Office the rainfall dunn ? the month in Wellington totalled 5.93 inches. Ibis fell on seven days, the greatest fall being 1.C5 inches on Wednesday last Ihere was sunshine on 187 hours 5 minutes of the 23.days of the month and this aggie, rate was considerably below the lebruary average. The average temperature stood slightly nboys the mean-63.3 degrees. Barometric pressure was about normal, but subject to a fluctuation of nearly three-quarters of an inch, ine highest reading was on February 11, viz., 30225, and lowest, 29.499, on February 9 Northerly winds predominated, and the winds generally were below the average in force. The highest were experienced on February 9 arid 23. There was one frost (on the morning of February 22), but on the whole the month was warm and humid. . According to'the rain gauge in_ Hie Wellington College grounds, which is in charge of, students keenly interested m meteorology, the rainfall for the month of February was 7.27 inches, which is a record for' Wellington for a very long time, The fall for February, MM, was only 2.33 inches, and the year before it was 5.72 inches.. As there was a very substantial rainfall of! 5.90 inches in January this year (Wellington Collcgo record), the total rainfall in the two months Is 13.17 inches—which is another record.; ■
