FEILDING EWE FAIR
By Telegraph—Special Correspondent Palmerston North, February Zi. The annual ewe fair was held ut tho Feilding yards to-day. The entries comprised over 20,000 shcop, nearly all of which were Komncys, although a few £ooa lines of odd ewes came forward. The bulk of the entry was not up to the quality of last year. There wiw a large attendance, but there were not many buyers, and it soon became evident that except for really good lines, the supply was in excesß of the demand. A lew stud Homneys and Southdowns were ollered but none of thefic reached the ro serves. There was a keen demand for jl Thorpe's Uoniiiey two-tooth, ewen, which were exceptionally hue sheep, and which repeated last year's performance by topping the market at 645., being a chilling less than the price realised Inst year ' Good two-tooths made from 30s. to 37 8 . 6d., others selling at from 20b. to 28s • but a good many were not sold. Purjbred four-tooths of good quality and with big frames made from J'/s. W. to 40a., and ditto six-tooths made 345. Gd. Ordinary to good six-tooths sold at rrom 255. 6d. to 345., while four aix, and, iullniouthcd ewes mnde from 24b. to 28e. Jlcst four-year-old ewes averaged from 30a. to 36s 6d.; medium sorts, 255. to 295. Inferior were hard to quit at any price. Five-vear-old ewes sold at 275. to 30s„ and mixed four and /.iv.e-year-old ewes at Ms', to 28a. a great number failing to reach tho vendors' reserves.
