PRICE OF HIDES
TO-MORROW'S SALE. The sale of hides will lie resumed in Wellington to-morrow. Hides have been withheld from sale lately by the brokers and producers owing to the operation of the schedule rates. Owners of hides did not consider that they were Retting fair prices when the local twiners wjro allowed to buy at fixed urices. The. Qrdor-in-C'ouneil issued last week has changed the situation, by providing that (ho seller shall get the full auction price, although the tenner is still entitled to preference at that price. The price of hides at this week's sale is likely to show a sharp advanco on prices quoted recently, owing to the export demand. The tanners will not require all the offering?, and export buyers, whose competition is expected to bo keen, will determine the values, which will bo based on the exceptionally high prices now prevailing in Britain and i America.
