FIRST AUCTION UNDER NEW REGULATIONS.

Alfred Buekland n.ud Sons report that record prices for their store were, received mi Tuesday for.ox and cow hides .of Rood evades. Eight ox .hides in one lot made the record net price ot AH 5s 7d., or 20d. pev lb. Other lines of. hides averaged from M k. to .£1 12s. net each, or from lfld. to Md. per lb. (-off hides, weighing 15lb. and over, averegod .a .H net each, or ISd. per lb. One stout ox hide made .£5 13a. «• at net weight. Supplies are short, according to exporters' and tanners' reoiiii'onieiit,* and prices arc sure to rule higher.
