ATTACK ON POLICE BARRACKS
POLICEMAN FATALLY SHOT

(Rec. February 22, 11.5 p.m.) London, February 19. Armed men attacked tho police barracks at Castlcgrego'jy, Kerry. Tho attackers and defenders used i-ifirs, revolvers, and grenades. The attackers blew up portion of tho barracks, demanding a surrender. The police refused, and the fight was resuni/1. The attackers withdrew, leaving- two rifles. One policeman was slightly wounded, and it is believed that three of tho attackers were wounded. Prior to the attack all telephone and telegraph communication was cut. The police from surrounding areas, hastening to raise the siege, found the roads barricaded- bv felled trees, stones, earthworks, end trenches cut across the roads—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. '

A party of Sinn Feiners fired upon two policemen in Westmoreland Street, at 1 o'clock in the morning. The police Teturncd the fire, killing one civilian. Later.
Constable Walsh, who was wounded in the Westmoreland Street shooting, has died. Twenty shots were exchanged. Three heavilv-arro.ed civilians were cap-tured.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
