BRITISH BONDS
STRONG POSITION ON AMERICAN MARKET. (Rec. February 22, 5.5 p.m.) New York, February 20. It is understood that the unusual strength exhibited by several issues of British bonds during the last few days is due in great part to purchases of theso securities on account of London banks and big corporate investors in Britain. Anglo-French 5 per cent, bonds rose three Doints. Theso are due on October 15. and it is reported that the French and' British Governments will send fifty million dollars in gold .to the United States to pay them off.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Asan.
