GAS DISPUTE
APPROACHING A FINAL STAGE. Negotiations in connection with the dispute between the Wellington Gas Company mid its employees are now reported In lie dose to finality. The matter was further considered by the Conciliation Council on Saturday, the Commissioner (Mr. W. Newton) presiding. 'Die assessors were: For the company, Messrs. A. Douirall, T. Ingerton, and A. Morrie-Tay-lor: for the union, Messrs. D. Delaney (president!. T. llurns, and K. Brennan (secretary). Mr. W. A. W. Grenfell appeared as agent for the eompnny, and Mr. L. Glover for the union. Two sittings were held during the day —one in the morning and another in the evening. The proceedings were conducted in committee, and not being Quite completed. an adjournment was made until a date to be decided on between the parties. It is considered that there is- every chance of a complete settlement of the dispute being ranched.
