By Tolegraph—Press Association. Christchurcli, February 17. Offerings of wheat to merchants continue in small quantities. Samples have so far been fair, there being evidences of smut in a number of them. Tho fields are reported lo be very satisfactory, and quite threo to five bushels better than was anticipated six weeks ago. It is expected that last year's average yield of 31 bushels per acre will bo comfortably exceeded. The market, continues strong, for Algerian oats, owing to the sleady North Island inquiry. Algerians appear to be in less supply than was expected, and the inquiry' 13 keeping tho market very firm. Business has been dono at ss. to ss. 3d. at country stations. Gortons are offering freely, but business is practically nil so far as the North Island is concerned. Merchants there will not deal at tho quotations, and any business done is largely speculative. There is practically 110 inquiry for feed lines of any description from tho north. A particularly bright enmple of Cartons sold at 4s. 0(1. ot country stations, but all otlior deals repori.\l have been on the basis of 4s. 3d. to 4s. Od. Seed lines continue in good demand. Perennial ryegrass has Firmed, and is now quoted from ss. Gd. to Gs. Gd. Italian is worth 4s. 9<l. to ss. od. Barley values are erratic, and few lines have vet passed through merchants' hands. Onions are a shade easier, and are now worth .£8 4s. to .£8 10s. at country stations.
