ROSS SMITH'S FLIGHT
SIX-DAY TRIP FROM SYDNEY TO LONDON PREDICTED. Sydney, February 16. Sir Ross Smith, in an interview, stated that the flight from Sydney to London would, in the near future," be easily accomplished in six day 6, flying by daylight only, and allowing the passengers to sleeD at the landing places. He suggested tho following flight time-table; —First day; Sydney to Darwin; second dav: Darwin to Singapore; third day: Singapore to Calcutta; fourth day: Calcutta to Bagdad; fifth day; Bagdad to Rome: sixth day: Rome to London. The aviators will leave on a'non-stop flieht to Melbourne on Saturday next. SpeakinE at a dinner given by the Sydney "Sun" in honour of the aviators, Sir Ross Smith eulogised the work of the mechanics, and said niost of the credit for tho success of the journey was due to them. Referring to the repaiing of tho machine at Charleville,. he snid it nroved that Australian mechanics do as good work as anyone elso, and are canablo of turning out a complete machine. "That is a big thing, because if Australia is faced with another war it must be remembered that aeroplanes will be necessary."
CaDtain Frank Hurley, the Government official photographer, accompanied the. aviators on their flight from Charleville. and secured a fine' series of pictures.—Press Assn. A company, known as Aviation Limited, has been registered, with tho object of developing aerial passenger services, uarticularlv between Melbourne and Tasmania. Cantain Wilson, while "stunting" with a Sonwith aeroplane at Geclong, struck ■ a spectator and killed him. The machine was wrecked, but tho aviator was not iniured.—Press Assn.
