The proposed! visit of the champion dwimmer Norman Ross was discussed at ft conference of delegates from swimming associations in aill parts of New Zealand to-day. The secretary) to the New Zealand Swimming Coullpil (Mr. Baxtor O'Neill) enid that after (he New Zealand Council had guaranteed a certain sum. towards the expenses it was stated that Ross could not spare more (than a week in the Dominion, and the.proposal was abandoned. Lat*r, however, it wai> intimated that Ross would prolwbly be able to stay ia New Zealand fortnight A sub-com-mittee- of the council had advised Australia that it would undertake n h'ur by Ross for two weeks, subject to soino modification regarding the financial liability- of the New Zealand Association. The liability of the douncil would be about .£4O, olid tho centre* would have to meet the cost of entertaining Ross, who was expected to reach -'Wellington ou March I. The conference' referred the matter tc ft committee. '
