BLIZZARD IN NEW YORK
TRANSPORTATION DISORGANISED. New York, February 0. Transportation has been completely disorganised, owing to a blizzard which has been Tagiiig for two days. The telephone service lias practically collapsed, and thousands of suburban residents have been' unable to leave their homes. Heavy seas are sweeping over local seaside resorts, and millions of dollars *of damage has been done, (n 6ome cases summer homes and oungalows being 6ivept to sea. Shipping has been tied up on the icecovered harbour. The o:d Dominion liner Princess Anno was driven ashore at Rock away Point, and Is iu a precarious position. There aro 101 people aboard.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Rec. February 8, 5.5 p.m.) New York, February 7. Thirty-two of the Princess Anne's passengers and crew were rescued by lifeboats— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. WEATHER MODERATING. (Rec. February 8, 11.45 p.m.) New York, February 7. Thirly-two passengers and twentyeight of tho crow of tho stranded steamer Princess Anno were takon off in police boats. Forty-four of the crew were leit on board.
