SUPREME COURT SENTENCES

At tho Supreme Court to-day crank Stokes, who pleaded guilty to ten charges of false pretences, thett, and forgerv, was sentenced to twelve months imprisonment, and declared an nabituft criminal. Walter George J-dward Wheeler (29 years), who has had -a convictions siiiuo lie arrived in J\o,w Zealand four years ago, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, and declared an habitual criminal on eleven charges of forgery and false pvetenccs. Osca° Strangebve, a Norwegian, was declared an habitual crvni'unl, and sentenced to two j ears' imprisonment foi breaking and entering. A similar sentence was imposed on Charles j-lendei-nan for false pretences Hurry James Fit/,gibbon was sentenced lo hie \c,i s imprisonment for assaulting _ a ma .. flenrv Wahanui, the lender in a theit from the person at. Toke.m-iru, was ordered to undergo two years re-formal no treatment, two younger accomplices, Henry Solomon and Ivaka Hiki, being ftdmitted to probation.
