A conference. between the mine owners oiul the Miners' Union, mi reference to tho now industrial agreement, has been proceeding for tlio past three days. Iho union demanded a five-tlay week of hours with ft minimum wage ot us. per dnv. Tho mino owners offered an increase of Is. 9d. per day, bringing the minimum wago to 13s. >. per day compared with 10s. fid., and they also oftcrrd a reduction of four hours per shilt weekly, thus reducing the weeks work to 44' hours, as against 48. lhe conferonce is still sitting.
