A drowning fatality that occurred at Kaiteratahi late this afternoon resulted in tho death of two children, Zona May Laskor (aged 7 years) and William Lasker (aged .8 years). Tho father, C. Lasher,, is a foreman of the freezing chamber at the Poverty Bay Meat Works. He stated that (ho children, accompanied by a Maori boy named Waaka, were,sent at ~.20 p.si. to the store for bread. About 5 p.m. Waaka arrived at tho store, and told a lad named Cameron that the two Lasker childrenvwent in for a bathe and never camov'P. '-Jle saw bubbles arising on the surface of the water. The alarm was given and a number of persons dived for the bodies, which wero recovered by 5.30. Artificial respiration was applied, but without avail.
