SANITARY INSPECTORS
INAUGURAL MEETING. The inaugural meeting of the Sanitary Inspectors' Association was held recently, ami was attended by delegates fiom 'all parts of the Dominion representing the Government, llospil.il Hoard and municipal sanitary officers. Dr. Watt, Assistant-Chief Health Officer, and Dr. Fnris, District Health Officer, representing the administrative heads of the Pubiic Health Department, wero present, and, on their behalf, expressed hearty sympathy with the objects of the association, and assured the meeting of their assistance iii furthering the interests of the association. An initial membership of over GO was assured*at the meeting. The folt.rviiig executive was elected: President, Mr, F. B. Gardiner (Napier); vice-president, Mr. M. Kershaw (Christchureh); honorary treasurer, Mr. W. ■ Tomlinson (Christclmrcli); honorary secretary, Mr. J. Terry (Wellington); auditors, Messrs. Robinson (Wellington) and W.'B. (tough (Pctone); centre representatives, Messrs. Tudehope (Auckland), W. Eddy (North Auckland), W. A. M'Oeßor (Hn;v;;e's Bay), T. Pnrgetter (Wanganui and ' pnrnnaki), Kggie (Wellington)), E. Nicol (Christchiirch), K. Cameron (Otago), Coltman (Nelson and West Coast). Since the electrification of the Manchester tramways in WOl, .£1,326,891 has been devoted from the nit profits to lie relief of the local rates. The largest amount contributed in any one year was ,£111,81)1 in the year ended March last.
