INCREASED FREIGHT RATES
ON HOMEWARD CARGOES. London, January 21. The Shipping Controller has framed new freight rates, to lie in force from January 1, for cargo steamers directed to load Homeward Government cargoes. Owing to tho increased cost of bunker coal, port,delays, and the increased cost of loading and discharging, the rates to Britain from Cuba will Im, 855., from Australia 1505., from the River Plate 107s. Gd. per ton. Tho present Government rate for sugar from Cuba is 505., on grain from the River Plato G2s. 6d., and on grain from Australia 105s.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Rcuter.
