VANCOUVER WANTS BUTTER
Tho Minister of Agriculture (Ml. Oninn) announced recently, says a Melbourne paper, that, following tho proposal to continue the control by the Commonwealth of butter exports nis attention had been directed to a letter sent to a Melbourne export firm from a leading produce firm in Vancouver, 8.C., in which it was stated:— "The market here is bare, arid in the event of butter being made available wo assure you we will give strict guarantee that in'the event of permits being secured all butter shipped will lie consumed locally, not reshipped. \Yc could pay 30(1. f.o.b. steamer, or probably a littlo filter nroviding we could secure it desirable quality for this market." Commenting oh this offer, Mr. Oman said that if a contract were made on the lines suggested it would mean 2305. per cwt. f.0.b., Melbourne, as against 1755. received under the butter pool arrangements. In view of the prices paid for butter overseas it was evident, that a very profitable contract could bo entered into, lie noncd thai tn* prodncei would obtain the full w;tW's parity, as it. would mean increased " production.
