DROWNING ACCIDENTS

Alois Herman, a fanner, v'lis crossing the Knpuni River on Saturday afternoon to help a neighbour bring some eows across a ford, when he was washed off his horse and drowned. The body was recovered yesterday about a lftile from the place where the accident occurred. Deceased, whoso wife died two months ago, leaves five littlo children. „j Auckland, January 2G. Alfred Charles Aspland, aged 4S, was drowned while bathing at St, Heller's Bay yesterday in three feet of water, with his son. The 'boy noticed his father limiting on the surface, and struggled ashore with him, but efforts to revive him failed.
