Washington, January 19. A Pan-American Financial Congress has onencil. and the North, South,-and Central American countries have been invited to lav tlieir financial needs before it. BRITAIN'S "TRADE DEFICIT PROSPECTS FOR CONVERSION INTO CREDIT. London, January 22 Mr. Austen Chamberlain, in the speech at Birmingham in which he referred to the world's financial situation and Britain's national debt, said that there were some favourable signs. British trado was very prosperous, and the adverse trade balance was beiwr rapidly reduced. It. did not exceed ,£150,000,000 for the past rear, and lie would be disappointed if the new venr closed without the deficit boinsr converted into a balance in our favour of at least the same amount.
