RESULTS OF THE EVENTS,

In conjunction with the iiiei'lini;, the Y.M.C.A. Swimming Club hc-ld vnccs in ihe jiavk lake. '1 ho attendance was large and enthusiastic, and included many visitors from outsido parts. Owing mainly In the efforts of Mi-. .1. Uradhnrv (treasurer) and Mr. \\. Hartlimt (secretary) .the athletic events were got oft' punctually, and 'he interest of the spectators was held until tho conclusion of the gathering. The Mvimniinj events were just as .snrcesslully carried c-ut under the supervision of Mr. S. I'arsonsou. The main features of tho afternoon were the performances of tho New Zealand champion team, G. Harvey's polo viinlt'mr. and K. Sutherland's high jump meriting i special applause— and the cycle handicaps*. In a great ninny of the events close and exciting finishes were witnessed. During tho afternoon Ihe Municipal Band played selections. In the c-voninji, a sinoko concert was held in Murray's Hall, and the usual loa;ts were honoured. All tho v'siting athletes, except. Harvey wis successful in the polo vault with lflff. Tin., ami siibwcniently made an exhibition vault of 11ft. A. Wveth won the one-mile and threemile handicaps. A. B.
