Mr G. Slade presided over a meeting of me • MmittKement Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union held last ni"ht. There were also present: jlcssre. S Pike \. C. Kitto, G. Howe, '1. Jones, 11 T. Bailev.' and Dr. R. Crawford ' A loiter was read from the Vancouver Union, asking' that a New Zealand Ruubv team should be sent there early next swing to nlay a series ot matches on the Pacific Coast. The letter mentioned that Rugby was in a very flounsliine condition, and that they had many good players. . A renlv has been sent, asking for fuller information with regard to the seasons, etc.. in that country. In respect to the circulars sent out lo the various unions in the Dominion with rceard lo the suggestions made a. tho conference recently held in Sydney as to the- L'ovemment of Rugby and tho proposed alterations to the laws of the game, replies have been received from the totlowins unions: Wellington Wairarapa, Canterbury. Poverty Bay, Olago \Vanganui. Bar of Plenty, Buller, Hawkes Boj. and Southland. In every case the unions imnrovpil of the establishment of an international board of control with a central secretary for Australasia. In reBard to' the proposed alteration to tho laws of the eamcand the rules regarding nrofcssionalisni, the unions urged Hint they should not be given efteet unt a - proved by tl.o New Zealand Rugby Un .
