Sir Francis 8011, Minister of Mutation met the Otago University Council, which asked for .£20,000 for various purposes, including new buildings, chiefly ii medical school. The Minister said that the Prime Minister had authorised him (o say tlm Government regarded the medical 6chool as a national asset, and in making grants would view it in that lieht. Regarding arts and other branches, tlie Government would give amounts similar to tlioso granted to other University Colleges.
