THE PETROL SHORTAGE
REGULATIONS PUT INTO TORCE,

Auckland, January 12. Information has been received in Aucidand that the l'rimo .Minister, as Minister in chaw of the. Petrol Kegulations, gazetted in July, 1918, has directed that these regulations, which were temporarily suspended, arc now to bo stricttv enforced. During the present shortage the whole of tne benzine imported must be distributed in accordance with the regulations in regard both to omuitity and price, and in every case preference must be given to essential industries. The enforcement ot the regulations also means that all dealers in benzine, whether as importers or distributors. must be holders of licenses. No inmorter of benzine, according to IW regulations. liiav allow a distribiitoi take more (hail four weeks' supply at ono time, and n<) distributor is permitted to sell mora than four weeks supply at anv line time to a consumer.
