POINTING A SHOT-GUN
A cniUfiTCHUr.CH INCIDENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christcliurch, January 12. A motorist driving toward the city on Saturday night with his wife observed n man with a shot-gun holding up three other persons on the road. The motorist was allowed to pans after a parley, and made a dash for the Addington Police -Station, where he picked up Sergeant Stewart and a constable. When the party arrived at the scene the hold-up was still in progress. The constable presented an automatic revolver at the man with the gun, and Sergeant Stewart (lushed in and grappled with him. A terrific struggle ensued, but the man was finally overpowered and handcuffed. Ifis name wav. Albert Edward Nielio!, 10 years of age. IJe was charged at the Magistrate's Court this morning with point'ng a loaded shot-gun at William Hann with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and was remanded. Hann is a l>rotli(?r-iri-lft\v of Nichol. It is understood a family d spute caused the trouble, and one of the party held up wa; Kami's wife, a iister of Nichol.
