COMPLAINT REGARDING HAW'KE'S
111 reference to the available space in the cold stores of the freezing works for the coming season, Mr. M. J. Reardon, secretary of yie Slaughtermen's ■Union, iiilormed a Dominion reporter yesteulay that he had just received intimation to the effect tnat the Tomuami works, the largest in the liawke's Bay district, were working half-time owing to congested chambers. To his mind it was quite clear that llawke's Bay was not getting an equitable distribution of tho available shipping space. "They .had exactly the same experience last year," he stated, "when they wore railing sheep out oMlnwke's Bay to other parts of tho We'lington province for killing, whilst the Hawke's Bay works were more or less idle. The season is really only beginning, and hero we have 0110 of tho largest works 011 half-time."
'Mr. Reardon iurthor stated that, in his opinion, it was quite useless to havo space for any number of carcasses if such space was available in the parts of New Zealand, where it was not required. This applied to the South Island, where the spaco was not yet needed,
