NO CEMENT
BARE MARKET IN WELLINGTON. There is still a marked shortage of cement in Wellington i'ndejd the market was 'bare •yesterday, and there is small chance of"fresh supplies arriving this week. Since the acnto shortage prior to Christmas the situation has not improved in the least. The holidays have intervened and the worlw had to be closed down for a week in eases whero they had the coal In continue burning. Where they had none, it was, of course, -impossible to turn out the cement. 'So at the present time, when the men are prepared' to'resume work, the operations on dozens of, buildings have had to be suspended. Tljcre is no immediate prospect of getting further supplies within a week, and there are those in Wellington who are contemplating importing cargoes from Japan, which now possesses some very largo cement works.
